How Do Pre-Paid Cards Work?

Have you ever considered using pre paid credit cards to help get out of debt? Or, do you think that using a credit card of any kind will worsen your debt situation? The good news is that pre-paid cards require you to front the money into an account before you spend, so you are more likely to be careful with this type of card versus a normal credit card. So, if you have bad credit but still need a credit card, this is a good option to explore.

How Pre Paid Credit works with bad Credit?

If you have bad credit getting credit when you want can be difficult. However a credit card can be helpful for any emergency use. So how does a pre paid credit card?

It looks just like a normal credit card: branded with the familiar logos such as Visa, American Express, and Mastercard– but the difference is that the card is pre-loaded with your spending balance. In other words, you fund a certain amount into your own account, and you can spend against that balance using your card.

Pre paid cards work, even if you have bad credit. You will not need to apply for the card and get pre-approval because you are borrowing against your own pre-funded balance out of your account, much like a debit card.

Using Pre Paid Credit Cards?

Just deposit money into your card account. Your spending limit is based on how much you put into your account. As you make purchases using your card, the amount spent is reduced from your total account balance. Obviously, once you spend all the money in your account, you will need to make a deposit to fund your account again.

Calling them “credit ” card can be misleading as there is no money being given on credit but these cards are used like just the ordinary credit cards.

One of the primarily benefits of using a prepaid credit card is so you can prevent overspending on regular cards, and because you don’t have to pay interest fees.

Benefits of Prepaid Credit Cards.

1. These cards are accepted in the same places the normal cards are used.

2. There is no additional debts incurred since you are using your pre-funded balance.

3. You can still get these cards even if you have poor credit

Prepaid credit cards are a better choice especially if you have destroyed your borrowing power and yet in need of credit help.

Pre paid credit cards may be used in the same way as the normal cards with the exception you decide on how much you deposit into your account. Your expenses are reduced from your own balance.
