Can You Get Govt Grants and Loans?

July 3, 2009

Can you believe that there are agencies within the government that will help you get your hands on government money? Even with bad credit history, you can apply for government grants and loans which will actually help fix your credit.

There are some qualifications you need to meet before applying for a government loan. If you, for example had been turned down by two lending agencies for a loan or credit this may qualify you for a government program. An example of this is that you want to buy a used car and you been turned down by two unique car dealers, this alone may qualify you for a loan from the government.

Government grants and loans come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, including money for business start ups, grants for taking care of foster children, and even for single parents. If you choose to pursue a higher education in college or through university, there are student loans and grants waiting for you. After going through all the red tape to qualify for government loan you will find that the interest rate is very reasonable on paying back the money, which can be very beneficial to you.

The penalties for missing payments or defaulting on your government loan can be quite ugly, plus the fact that you will never qualify for another one. The government has the right to take money directly out of your bank account or garnish your wages. And that inheritance your grandmother just left you isn’t even safe. Just remember to always honor your responsibility when it comes to paying back debt especially to the government. Just remember, you can run but you can’t hide, especially from Big Brother if you own the money.

The government also offers grants to help people get back on their feet and pay off their creditors. A grant is free money which does not have to be paid back, which makes them even more appealing. However, if you use the money for anything else other than its intended purpose and they find out, down come the penalties. You may even be prosecuted for fraud so please heed the warning.

Due to our bad economy, a bill was just passed through Congress to help those who are having problems paying their creditors. This allows the qualified applicants the ability to greatly reduce ones legal fees or legal aid. Certain government agencies are prepared to arbitrate on your behalf if you find the negotiations with your creditor are fruitless. Credit counseling is also available for free for those that need it.

Housing nd Urban Development or HUD can help in the short term, if you’re temporarily having problems paying your rent. If you’re a first-time home buyer with credit that’s not so great, HUD can also help you buy a house. Even with less than stellar credit you can still borrow up to 500K at low interest to purchase a home, protected under the Home Buyers Bill of Rights.

We are in tough economic times, but don’t get this courage, because there is help available. Contact your lending an institution or local government agency to find out more about government loans and grants.
